The stores in Smithville range from antiques and rare finds to luxury goods. In this fun store called Country Folk, we found handmade signs, birdhouses, and home decor along with antique Ford car signs and Betty Boop figurines. Vintage jewelry, kitchenware, and lawn decor were among the interesting finds at every turn.

You never know what you’ll discover in this store. It’s like a whole flea market in one spot, so make sure you save time to thoroughly check it out! .

Smithville Bags

This women’s clothing and accessory store emanates peace and beauty with gorgeous dresses, totes, and bags in fun patterns you don’t normally see. Take your time and explore the jewelry, candles, wind chimes, and more, many made in the U.S.A.

The Fairest of Them All has an earthy vibe with crystals, rocks, and sage, along with incense, dream catchers, hemp-infused chocolate, and bohemian-style clothing for a fun and laid-back feel. I meant to go back for a beautiful rock wind chime… and I forgot! When you see something special in a store in Smithville make sure to grab it, because there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to find these items again.

Christmas Shop in Smithville

This is THE Christmas Shoppe of Smithville. It’s overflowing with Christmas all year round, with beautiful ornaments, nutcrackers, Christmas Villages, and figurines. Cooks Corner

Cook’s Corner is a kitchen wares store and more – they have all sorts of kitchen gadgets, along with jams, drink mixes, specialty teas, seasonings, pastas, and clever kitchen necessities. I picked up a beautiful glass olive oil dispenser I didn’t know I needed, but had to have it when I saw it!

Explore Cook’s Corner with the dreamy aroma of fresh roasted gourmet coffee made on-premise. The smell is sensational! In the winter they also have amazing hot cocoa that will warm you right up.

There is also a toy store across from La Petite Boutique called Toy Market which has a plethora of gifts aimed at kids of all ages. Lots of puzzles, crafts, games, novelties, playdough, and even scooters and different things throughout the year. It is aimed at educational toys and gifts. We usually left with some legos and slime when our kids were younger.

The Fan Cave is a favorite because they really have something for everyone. There’s a lot to look at, ranging from sports items to military t-shirts, toys, flags, banners, signs, and decor.

Smithville NJ

Indigo Sol is a specialty store with all sorts of stones, crystals, and hand-painted items. There are tons of incense and holders too – with many holders priced at only $5 and the incense sticks 10 for $1. So of course we grabbed some of those, along with a ring that absorbs negative energy.

In Indigo Sol, be sure to ask the workers questions. They are knowledgeable and helpful if you don’t know that much about different stones  and crystals or what you are looking for.

Shell We Smithville

Shell We? is a fun nautical store located by the train, restrooms, and the arcade. (There are a couple of small antique arcades around so bring change!)  It has a ton of beach themed items, souvenirs, home decor, magnets, shells, etc.

A great souvenir and gift spot, Shell We ? has Smithville NJ t-shirts, necklaces with names on them, assorted shell wind chimes, and other beachy things. Sometimes they even have hermit crabs!

Here are a few more shops, like Trendie Treasures which is one of our favorites. They have great jewelry (costume, mostly inexpensive), sunglasses, clothing, scarves, headbands, purses, and more. Perfect for teens and young women. I purchased a really pretty necklace and earrings set here and my daughter bought a ring. We usually leave with something from Trendie – it’s hard not to!

A great option for more of a mature crowd would be Razzle Dazzle, located on the other side of the bridge. They have designer-inspired jewelry and clothing and is a fun fashion boutique! Perhaps is a beachy and beautiful boutique that has women’s and children’s clothing.

The Smiling Llama is an interesting store – filled with sweaters and items made with alpaca hair. It’s a South and Central America Imports Boutique with specialty items like Alpaca Jackets, Leg Warmers, Hats, Gloves, and Peruvian Bags.

Next door is The Man Shoppe with items like t-shirts, beard oil, flags, belts, cigars, and other unique gifts for the men in your life.

Smithville Lodging

Exploring Historic Smithville can definitely take more than a day. I would suggest at least 2 days if you have the time, to really wander through the shops and try all the treats!

There is lodging at the quaint Colonial Inn, lakeside and right in the middle of the Smithville Village. All rooms boast gorgeous timeless decor within walking distance to the shops and events. Complimentary tea and coffee are offered all day and prices range from around $200-$300 per night depending on the room and location. Rooms are located in the Main House, the Barn, or Village Rooms. Some require a 2 night stay. Just try it – you won’t regret it! It’s a really special experience.

Colonial INN Smithville

There are of course other lodging opportunities nearby. One of our personal favorites is the Seaview Hotel. It’s huge and luxurious with a very grand feeling to it. They host lavish parties and weddings and offer award-winning cuisine at their 3 beautiful restaurants. Seaview amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, a majestic golf course, tennis and pickleball courts, a fitness center, and a recreation room with billiards.

Christmas at Historic Smithville

If you only go to Smithville, NJ once, go during the Christmas season. It does not disappoint. We would go when our kids were little and there would be a gentle snowfall, Santa walking by offering candy canes, and Mrs. Clause reading Christmas stories.

There is a big Magic Talking Christmas Tree, and Breakfast with Santa (for a fee, and sells out quickly!). On weekends there is a bonfire with smores and the holiday light show from Thanksgiving until January 6 from 5:30-8:30 daily. Watch your children’s eyes light up with Christmas wonder and feel something yourself too. There are 120 Christmas trees adorning 50,000 lights – orchestrated and seeming to dance over Lake Meone.

Dickens Festival is another specialty of Historic Smithville. Riddlesbrood Touring Theatre Company presents 2 days of shows. Don’t miss the musical adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” on the portable outdoor stage!

I love to visit Smithville twice a year. If I lived closer, I'd be there even more! I go every year when we are in the area and I make a point to go around Christmastime because it is just magical. I always leave with special soaps and a piece of jewelry for me, gifts for family and friends, plus other random things that I fall in love with.
