Women’s Soccer has been gaining attention worldwide over the last few years, with devoted fans, increased viewership and more media coverage than ever before.

All the more reason to check out a LIVE game in the Tri-State Area!

Previously known as “Sky Blue FC”, this U.S. Women’s Soccer team became NY/NJ Gotham FC in 2021. The team rebranded to show their growth, expanding reach and diverse fanbase, and further represent their roots in New Jersey and their closeness to the cosmopolitan that is New York City.

What to Expect at a Gotham FC Soccer Game at Red Bull Arena

Upon entering the Red Bull Arena, you will feel the excitement brewing. Gotham FC knows how to get the party started and get their fans hyped. Be sure to get there early, as there is plenty to do while you wait! There are stations set up to make posters for your favorite players, get your face painted to show your enthusiasm, and even a spot to get in some practice of your own!

When we were there just recently in September, there was even a band singing fun favorites like “I Will Survive” right outside of the Crossbar – a bar with seating and TVs to hang out before the soccer game. All of this before a 1pm Sunday soccer game!

Red Bull Arena Parking

There is plenty of parking at the Red Bull Arena. There are parking lots ranging from $15-$30 per car. There are select areas that offer pre-paid parking to ensure your spot, but other lots are cash only or credit only. We usually park in lot C that is $20, cash only, and have never had a problem.

**I’d recommend trying to get a spot closer to the entrance/exit of the parking lot instead of closest to the arena. You will end up in a lot of traffic with everyone trying to get out at the same time and you will be among the last to get out! (Tried that once and will never again). It’s also worth noting that tailgating is not permitted…I mean, people will bring a sandwich and eat before they go in, but it’s not a big tailgating place.

Red Bull Arena also offers Valet Parking and the Path Station is conveniently located right by the parking lot. (Just over a 20-minute ride from The World Trade Center to the Harrison stop when using the Path if traveling from NYC, and about half an hour from Hoboken – switching at Exchange Place).

Red Bull Arena Seating

Red Bull Arena is a 25,000 seat state-of-the-art facility. Needless to say, the Gotham FC games haven’t gotten sold out yet with this amount of seats available! While the men’s soccer teams do still get a better turn out than women’s teams, women’s soccer is growing more and more every year and is said to be growing 40% faster than any other women’s national sport.

When you first see the enormity of the field and stadium, it’s breathtaking. To see it in person is truly special. The front row seats are just 21 feet from the touchlines and the curving roof makes such an architectural statement.

I have sat with friends who have season tickets in section 108. These are great seats because you have such a clear view of the entire field – and we were in the 3rd row, so close to the players. In this section, after the games the players come over and sign posters, too!

Tickets to a Gotham FC Soccer game will usually cost anywhere from about $50 to about $130 per seat, depending on the game and opponents and the proximity of seats to the field (and sometimes you can get them as low as $18 behind the goal!)

It’s worth noting though – kids 2 and up need their own ticket! And if a baby is in a carrier and requires a seat, they will also need a ticket.

Another time, we sat by the corner in section 115. It was great being able to see the goal kicks so close! And of course, anywhere you sit, the teams switch sides after half time so you will get to experience most players running by. Just be aware – depending on the time of day the sun can be HOT and the dome is not covered!

What Can I Bring into the Red Bull Arena?

Permitted

Bags up to 14″ by 14″ by 6″ (baby/diaper bags allowed, may be subject to a search or X-ray)
Folding umbrella strollers that fit under the seats are allowed
Umbrellas are allowed…but cannot be open inside the arena (so I guess just for when you’re walking in from parking?) Some days you WILL get wet!
Flags and signs under 3′ by 5′ are permitted as long as they are event-related
Phones & Cameras (non-extending cameras only)
Laptops and Tablets without bags

All outside food & drinks
Noisemakers, whistles, air horns, drums, etc.
Professional camera equipment, tri-pods, selfie sticks
Beach balls, frisbees, balloons, streamers, or confetti

Anything that is not permitted you will have to bring back to your vehicle or throw out…the arena will not provide storage

Red Bull Arena Food & Drinks

There are 9 total Concession Stands on the Concourse at the 100 level. Fan favorites like chicken fingers and fries, footlong hot dogs, popcorn, chips, and more are available. Alcoholic beverages and soda are also available. Of course, the food is not cheap, but they do give decent amounts. The large canned beers are around $16-$19 and the soda has a refilling station. Don’t even get me started on those footlongs!

Once you’ve parked, gotten amped up, gotten your snacks and drinks, now it’s time to settle in for the game. There are tons of helpful workers that will help you easily find your seats. Once you get in there, take it all in! There has never been a game exactly like this one and there never will be again! You are watching history being made. It’s really a magical experience watching a live sports game.

You don’t even need to be a die-hard fan of the Gotham team to have a great time at their games – you can simply appreciate women’s sports and the team giving it their all. Enjoy the atmosphere, the athletes, and some time doing something different!

Before a Gotham FC game begins, there are a few traditions. The Cloud 9 drum band revs up the crowd, the giant torch gets lit, and the National Anthem gets sung. Then it’s game time!

Cloud 9 is a group of Gotham FC supporters (fans and volunteers) that come to the games and sit in General Admission seats in the 101 Section behind the goal. They drum, sing, stand, cheer, and just support the team for the whole 90 minute game.

Gotham FC Players

For the 2024 Women’s Gotham FC Team, there are 24 active players. These athletes are mostly from the U.S.A., with a few international members. The team is reportedly worth approximately $40,000,000, with minority owners like fellow athlete Eli Manning and COO of the Buffalo Bills, Pete Gueili. Their head coach is Juan Carlos Amoros. After finishing in last place in 2022 with previous head coach Scott Parkinson, the team has seen a lot of success over the last 2 years with their new coach. They are currently ranked at #3 for 2024 in the National Women’s Soccer League!

Gotham FC Schedule

Gotham FC matches are usually from April through November each year, so there is plenty of time to catch one of their games. In 2024, this professional women’s soccer team will have played an impressive 39 games once their season ends on November 1. With the growing interest in women’s soccer, more games and competitions get added and opportunities to play arise.

There are plenty of weekend games, with some weeknight games too. Gotham FC games can be streamed various places like Paramount+ and CBS as well. A full schedule of the rest of their 2024 season can be found here.

The Gotham FC games also include many celebrations and themed games at their home games at the Red Bull Arena. Some of these include a Pride Celebration, Mental Health Awareness Night, Women’s Empowerment Night, and a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.
